Mission Statement

South Apopka Safe Neighborhoods mission is to foster community involvement and physical change in our community.  This is a voluntary program to help residents address issues that are causing their neighborhoods

to decline in quality of life.

The Safe Neighborhoods Program is a voluntary program to help Orange County neighborhoods address issues that are causing the neighborhood to decline in quality and livability.  Each neighborhood was required to submit an application to the County to be considered for inclusion in this program.  Participation in the Safe Neighborhoods Program, gives neighborhoods direct control over a small allocation of funds to do community directed improvements to their neighborhood.

An additional benefit of the program is that each Safe Neighborhood has a unified voice through their action plan and leadership board.  This unified "voice" helps Orange County staff and elected officials know what each neighborhood needs and priorities are when planning for future projects and expenditures.

Political and social changes are important issues, but are beyond the scope and purpose of this program. Elected officials, candidates and political activists should be welcomed and encouraged to participate in safe neighborhood meetings, but should not be encouraged to use this venue as a campaign platform for or against anyone or any issue.
